Jane's training and love of Ortho-Bionomy started in 1998. She had the opportunity to take an Ortho-Bionomy course after graduating as a Registered Massage Therapist, and the changes that occurred for her were profound. There were certain physical movements and positions which she either could not do at all, or could not do comfortably; for instance, sitting back on her heels was something she couldn't do even as a child. After the course sitting on her heels was not only possible, she could do it without any discomfort! She was thrilled with her newfound freedom of movement and flexibility.
Jane began to apply the gentle methods of Ortho-Bionomy in her Massage Therapy sessions. In addition to the ease and comfort that Ortho-Bionomy afforded her clients, it benefited Jane by lessening her muscle fatigue while working. Through experiencing how Ortho-Bionomy affected her, Jane became interested in how a person's patterns of movement, life experiences, and repetitive actions could contribute to his/her patterns of tension or unease.
Today, the gentle, comfortable, and respectful Ortho-Bionomy techniques assist Jane and her clients understand how their patterns can affect their well-being, and help them resolve these problems. She uses Ortho-Bionomy as part of every session, either by itself or incorporated with other modalities. Jane believes that Ortho-Bionomy can be life changing; she feels that being aware of what is uncomfortable and being able to move into comfort, in all aspects of life, is empowering and is the impetus to change. In addition to Ortho-Bionomy, Massage Therapy and Reflexology, Jane has training in Lymph Drainage Therapy, Visceral Manipulation and CranioSacral Therapy.
